Role of Insurance Agent in 2017

Executive Director of Asosiasi Asuransi Jiwa Indonesia (AAJI) Togar Pasaribu, said marketers have a very important role in improvement of literacy and inancial inclusion of life insurance. In 2016, AAJI recorded the number of licensed life insurance marketers grew by 6% from 512,657 people in 2015 to 543,192 people by the end of 2016. Of these, about 90.8% marketers came from the agency channel.

For example, the marketers of the agency channel play a major role, can be seen from PT Asuransi Jiwa Adisarana Wanaartha (Wanaartha Life). Wannaartha Life has a willing to increase the number of marketing personnels or agents to boost the marketing of insurance products and to pursue a 15% premium growth target by the end of 2017.

President Director of Wanaartha Life Yanes Y. Matulatuwa said until May 2017, the number of insurance agents under the auspices of Wanaartha Life has reached 3,650 agents. Wannartha Life has an agency growth target of 5,000 agents by the end of 2017.
Nowadays people realize the need in having an insurance. This indicates that there is a great opportunity in the insurance business by seeing  the increasing number of licensed agents.
This is well responded by Wanaartha Life by increasing the number of marketing agents to pursue existing opportunities. Wanaartha Life wants to improve its competence in this insurance business in order to compete with other insurance companies.
By this situation, it can be concluded that there is a very tight competition at this time in the insurance business in line with the increasing needs of people on insurance
